Over to you, Carys!

Introducing Carys Jones

What were you doing before joining Howells?

Having moved to Cardiff from Aberystwyth to study Law and Welsh LLB at Cardiff University, I have remained in the capital city to study and complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Prior to joining Howells, I progressed my career at other prominent law firms in South Wales.

Why did you choose to specialise in Med Neg / PI and Which Aspects Do You Particularly Enjoy?

I am fortunate enough to be able to work with medical experts, who are specialists in their chosen fields, daily. As a result, I learn something new every single day: from the correct way to perform a surgical procedure to how often a dentist should be taking x-rays of your teeth!

Learning from the medical experts is certainly beneficial, and I can’t think of another area of law that would afford me this opportunity.

Why Did You Choose to Move to Howells? What was the Appeal?

Howells appealed to me as, despite being a highly reputable and established law firm, it’s also a close-knit team which places importance on client care.

Practising the area of law that I do means I often come across people who have suffered from life-changing injuries and experiences. It’s therefore important to me to be able to support my clients through a difficult period to the best of my abilities, by obtaining answers to their questions and helping them understand what happened.

Howells shares this ethos of putting the clients first, something which is reflected and recognised in the awards Howells have won in the past.

What Are Your Professional Aspirations?

To continue providing legal advice and support to my clients, securing the very best outcome for them.

What Do You Enjoy Outside of Howells?

I cannot think of a better way to relax than to curl up with a glass of wine and a good book! My taste in literature is eclectic and I love reading a variety of genres in both English and Welsh.

I enjoy playing the piano and harp and, since the Covid-19 pandemic, I have developed a penchant for wild-water swimming! I also enjoy socialising with friends most weekends and attending events such as the Eisteddfod and Tafwyl.

Could You Have a Claim for Medical Negligence?

If you have suffered because of treatment received from a medical professional and require legal advice about applying for compensation, please get in touch and speak to our medical negligence experts.
