Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Contract (08.30am - 5.00pm, Monday - Friday)
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Location: We’re currently hiring for this position in our Cardiff office.
Job Description
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join our Personal Injury team on a full time, permanent basis. This will be a key role, working with an appropriately sized varied clinical negligence caseload.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Effectively managing a case load of litigated and non-litigated clinical negligence claims varying in value.
- Performing fee earning tasks in a commercially effective manner to meet agreed targets.
- Ensuring that medical, special damages, future loss, witness evidence has been appropriately collated prior to litigation, ensure limitation dates are identified and prepared for.
- Advising on tactics in relation on litigation & commercial settlements thereafter.
- Avoiding by means of commercial tactical planning unrecoverable & excessive disbursements.
- Looking for winners in cases & setting out the ‘roadmap’ of case direction.
- Advising on medical and legal issues.
- Driving and assisting with business development initiatives and opportunities.
- Supporting junior colleagues.
- Working as part of a team and working with minimum supervision when required.
- Maintaining the case file on the case management system accurately and clearly.
- Inspiring junior colleagues in the way you manage your work and in your behaviour in the office, with your colleagues, clients and third parties.
- Maintaining high standards of client care.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulation and applicable firm policies and procedures including the SRA Handbook.
- Recommending process changes to improve commercial management of matters.
What we’re looking for:
- 3-5+ years PQE is desirable, but not essential.
- Proven track record of running a personal file load under minimal supervision.
- Strong commercial awareness and demonstrating a commitment to developing the business of the firm.
- Initiative, flexibility, the ability to be highly organised and to meet tight deadlines.
- Good problem solver and excellent communication and technical skills.
- Ambitious and career driven.
- Target driven and self-motivated.
- Strong ability to manage a varied caseload in an efficient, client-sensitive, proactive and commercial manner.
- Hard working, energetic, sociable, with excellent IT, administrative and research skills.
- A thorough and working knowledge of code of conduct, compliance, and accounting issues.
