We are very pleased and proud of our team who have once again been recognised for the quality of the legal services we provide.
Three of our departments have been shortlisted for the inaugural South Wales Law Awards:
- Residential Conveyancing Law Services of the Year
- Employment Law Services of the Year
- Personal Injury Law Services of the Year
The winners will be announced on 15th May and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our own teams, as well as the other law firms who have been shortlisted.
Recognising Success: A Huge Thanks to Three Particular Individuals
Our residential conveyancing teams have previously won awards both locally and nationally, but this is the first time our Employment Law and Personal Injury departments have been named as finalists.
We are keen to recognise the leadership and commercial acumen put into practice by three key personnel who have been restructuring their departments and making key appointments to not only improve the quality of services they provide, but to also strengthen relationships with clients by offering them the specific legal services they require.
Sue Edwards joined Howells in the summer of 2018 as our new Head of Personal Injury and Medical Negligence. In this relatively short period of time, Sue and her team have already extended the range of services they provide, as well as organised free clinics in Mid and West Wales. These enable members of the general public to attend and benefit from the expert legal advice of Sue’s team with regards to any personal injury or medical negligence they might have suffered from.
Bethan Southcombe, Head of Employment and HR Business Services, and Gemma Bailey, Head of Employment Litigation and Disputes, have both made significant impacts since their appointments in the last 12 months.
Bethan and her team have been developing employment law and HR client retainer packages to provide comprehensive expert legal advice designed specifically for employers to ensure they are compliant with all relevant legislation. The team have also been hosting and organising a series of free employment law seminars in Cardiff, Swansea and Bridgend.
Gemma has successfully advised and represented individuals who have had grievances with their employers. One of the most notable being a case where the manageress of a well-known club won a complex case against her former employers for constructive unfair dismissal.
Commenting on the three nominations, Mark Hobbs, Managing Director of Howells Solicitors said:
“Being shortlisted for three awards is a good indication that our ongoing business plan to strengthen all of our legal departments to include comprehensive personal and business services is working. We now have a plethora of legal experience and expertise across all six of our offices and our clients are benefitting from these developments.
“We are looking forward to the award finals in May and I would like to offer my personal thanks and congratulations to our teams and the other shortlisted legal professionals.”
