Employment Law specialist Bethan Southcombe has joined us to lead our expanding employment law department.

Who is Bethan Southcombe?

With two decades of experience in this specialist field of law working for prominent legal companies in Bristol and Cardiff, Bethan advises both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law including TUPE transfers, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievances, discrimination, dismissals, settlement agreements and representing clients at employment tribunals. Bethan also has experience dealing with trade unions.

As well as advising and representing businesses, Bethan also delivers training sessions and seminars for HR professionals to impart the latest legislative changes and recommend best practice when dealing with specific circumstances that can arise in the working environment.

One of the first initiatives Bethan will be delivering will be the relaunch of the new Howells Employment Law Package (HELP). Originally launched four years ago, HELP is an employment law retainer package for businesses providing flexible levels of advice to suit clients’ needs and requirements. The new package will include insurance options which will cover costs for employment tribunals.

Commenting on Bethan’s appointment, Rhidian Hobbs, Head of Commercial, said:

“Bethan is a vastly experienced employment law solicitor with an impressive reputation in the South Wales legal community. An important aspect of Bethan’s new role will be to develop relationships with businesses to expand our regional client base and work closely with the other Howells commercial law departments, so we can offer business clients a comprehensive service.”

Bethan is looking forward to the challenges presented by her new role. She said:

“Howells have been proactively expanding their commercial law departments including employment law. The opportunity to join and lead this established team is exciting and I am confident that we will achieve our objectives and increase the number of businesses we work with.”
