Having Joined Howells Solicitors in October 2021 as Head of Business Development and Marketing, Michael Hayne is excited at the prospect of make a lasting impact by modernising the law firm to become the first choice for both private and commercial clients seeking legal advice.
In just a short period Mike has already started building connections and develop new opportunities for our five offices located across South Wales. We were able to sit down with him to find out more about our new Head of Business Development and Marketing.
Where did you grow up and what was your first job?
I originally grew up around Chew Magna near Bristol then moved to North Bristol a little later.
My very first job was with a bank dealing with charges and selling loans. I left there after a couple of years to travel around the world for 12 months with my now wife.
You have had over a decade of experience as an Estate Agent, why did you choose to move into the legal industry?
I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an Estate Agent, and after so long in the industry, it felt like the right time to broaden my horizons. Having so many great relationships with solicitors in the past, joining Howells was the perfect opportunity at just the right time for me.
How will you be contributing to the growth and future success of Howells?
With the experience and knowledge, I have gained working with estate agents, developers and brokers etc, I have a great advantage of being able to bring a different perspective to what is already a thriving business. I hope this will be a beneficial asset.
I have plans to really modernise and make Howells the first-choice law firm for the modern house buyer, family, businesses etc whilst using my customer service experience to improve the entire client journey wherever possible.
What has been the highlight of your first few months as Head of Business Development and Marketing?
Quite honestly, the welcome I have had from everyone in Howells I have met as well as the external relationships I have inherited has been the biggest highlight and positive I could have wished for.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I am a family man who loves spending time with my wife, my three year old daughter and another due in April. I love football as well as doing improvements to our house and garden!
