Aimee Thomas is the latest solicitor to join our growing team of legal experts in our Swansea office.
Aimee’s appointment means that we will have a permanent Commercial Property Solicitor based in Swansea to help and assist clients with all facets of this specialist area of law.
Our marketing team met with Aimee to find out more about her.
When and Where Did You Qualify?
I graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 in Law and then completed the LPC at Cardiff University. I started my career at Eversheds Sutherland as a Property Paralegal prior to completing my training contract at Capital Law with a focus on property. Following this, I moved to Greenaway Scott for just over two years in the commercial property team.
What Does Your Area of Expertise Include; How Do You Help Your Clients?
I have experience in many different types of commercial property work including the drafting of leases, licences, rent deposit deeds, lease surrenders and development work such as collateral warranties and plot sales. I also have experience assisting with corporate support such as completing due diligence reports and warranty negotiations.
Some examples of previous cases I have worked on include:
- Refinance of a £1.5 million mixed use building in Cardiff
- Refinance of a £1.5 million landlord’s portfolio in Cardiff
- Development finance of a £1 million residential property in Cardiff
- Assisting with MBO of Cardiff company worth £2.2 million
- Assisting with sale of a bus company worth £5 million
- Purchase of an optician’s chain and refinance of the portfolio
I am friendly, approachable and proactive. I also like to think that I am easy to pick up the phone to and give straightforward, simple, commercial advice to clients.
Clients will comment how quickly I deal with their queries and how I progress files in an efficient way.
I keep clients up to date with how the matter is progressing throughout the transaction and am always on hand with any queries.
Are There Any Specific Aspects of Your Role That You Particularly Enjoy?
I enjoy the nature of transactional matters where you spend time negotiating and reviewing several documents, but then have the satisfaction of a completion. I also enjoy dealing with clients and helping them progress their businesses.
And Outside of Work, How Do You Spend Your Time?
I recently purchased a new property so, unfortunately, DIY has become a new hobby. l have also recently taken up squash though. On the weekends, you will find me walking my new puppy on the beach and attempting to learn new recipes to bake.
