Stillbirth
We understand the trauma of losing a child. If you feel the loss of your child could have been avoided, our experienced solicitors will ensure your case is handled with compassion and sensitivity.
How can negligence cause stillbirths?
Anything under 24 weeks of pregnancy is classed as a miscarriage, whereas anything that passes the 24 weeks gestation is known as a still birth. Sadly, there are natural unavoidable causes, but some could have been prevented by medical professionals.
Stillbirths may be caused by medical negligence if there was:
- Failure to identify and treat a maternal infection
- Misinterpretation of test or scan results
- Inadequate monitoring of a baby’s development/heart rate
- Delivery error
