About Gerard

Gerard has worked in family law for over 30 years. 

He studied at Swansea University and the University of Glamorgan, qualifying as a solicitor in 1996.   

Gerard joined Howells in April 2021, having previously been head of the family law department in another local firm.    

Gerard is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in financial remedies, children law, international law, child abduction, forced marriage and honour-based violence.  

He is a collaborative lawyer and treasurer of Collaborative Law Wales, ‘an organisation of specialist family lawyers who share a commitment to resolving the issues following relationship breakdown in a constructive and amicable way.’  

Gerard is also a trained family mediator, a part-time member of the judiciary and is ranked in The Legal 500 for family law in Wales.  

In his spare time Gerard enjoys spending time with his family, yoga, running, visiting new places, eating out and taking his dogs for long walks.
