Al joined the firm in August 2024 as an associate solicitor in the dispute resolution team. He is a dedicated legal professional with a strong background in litigation.
Before joining Howells, Al worked at a number of leading national firms gaining valuable experience and expertise. He completed both his undergraduate degree and the part-time Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University. He qualified as a solicitor in 2021.
Al has developed extensive experience in handling a variety of contentious matters, including: debt claims; professional negligence; property disputes; and shareholder/director disputes. He manages a diverse range of cases, focusing on resolving commercial disputes. Al is able to collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives, ensuring the best possible outcomes. This allows Al to engineer practical solutions that benefit the parties as a whole. His approach has cost-saving benefits to clients, often meaning that court proceedings can be avoided.
A sample of Al’s experience includes:
- settling a contractual dispute relating to a breach of restrictive covenants;
- guiding clients through avenues to allow them to realise their interest in residential properties following a breakdown of their relationships with the co-owners of the properties;
- corresponding with landlords and/or their solicitors to identify breaches to prevent clients from being unlawfully evicted or otherwise prejudiced by unlawful conduct;
- aiding 34 claimants in a class action professional negligence claim for the sum of £1.7 million, which ultimately ended with a favourable settlement for the clients via a negotiated settlement;
- acting for the petitioner in an unfair prejudice claim in connection with their minority shareholding in a professional sports team;
- leading a £200,000 professional negligence claim in a construction dispute regarding incomplete works;
- recovering a number of outstanding debts through legal proceedings and enforcement action;
- advising clients on their options to prevent harassment, whether that be from ex-partners or business partners;
- acting in a shareholder dispute relating to commercial properties valued at over £1,000,000;
- resolving a wide range of debt claims across a range of industries and sectors, including technology, manufacturing, hospitality and agriculture;
- all forms of landlord and tenant disputes relating to breach of tenancy agreements, breach of covenants, and a letting agent’s failure to comply with their contractual duties; and
- settlement of a claim for the value of an undelivered luxury Rolex watch.
Al has been praised for his attention to detail and his personability, which allow him to work effectively within the team and with clients. He regularly attends networking events in Cardiff and Bristol and has built a strong professional network.
Al is a passionate foodie who enjoys exploring new culinary experiences is an avid fan of films and television. He also enjoys staying active and working out.
